SHRIMP………WOW

I must confess that Roy does most of the cooking when he is home for the week and last night was no exception.

We started with a great margarita.

 001

002

We love long grain and wild rice.

003

WE started with raw, peeled, butter flied shrimp. seeded jalapenos and raw bacon.

 004

005

As you can see, he inserted the strip of pepper in the shrimp and wrapped it with bacon and placed it on wooden skewers. If you use wooden skewers, always soak them in water a while before using them.

009

Don’t  forget your margarita!010

The rice is cooking and our shrimp are ready for the grill.

008

This sauce is a must…..I know you have some sauce, but not like this. Of course having a “little” Cajun history in by background means we use a lot of Cajun products.  This sauce is not hot. It is call Cajun Power BBQ and Grillin’ Sauce.  Web site is www.cajunpowersauce.com.                                it is made in Abbeville, La.  Now is you want hot sauce, I would rather email some of those to you, they have some pretty spicy Names. The last one Roy tried, and he likes them HOT, blister his lip, he is saving this one for our Nephew, who claims the hotter the better.

But back to my recipe

013

Ready for the grill.

014

I forgot I had just bought Roy this Kabob Rack, but they are very handy.  Got this one at TJ Maxx for $3.00, yep $3.00.

015

Grill is hot and ready to go.

If you are not a shrimp cooker, remember no matter how you cook shrimp, they only take a about 4 minutes to cook, so if you like your bacon a little crisp, the put it in the microwave for a few minutes before you wrap your shrimp or cook it directly over hot fire.

020

While waiting for kabobs to cook, Roy was taking pictures of the new seating area I created on the side of the house.

They are ready and smelling righteous!

021

Well, I lost the pictures of the table all set and the food on the plates, but I can tell you one thing it wasn’t there long enough to take many pictures.

Oh, yes the sauce, we use it as a dipping sauce for our shrimp, but it is great on chicken or hamburgers.

Wish if you like shrimp, we could have  been here.  We cook a lot of seafood, of course, I grew up on the coast so I would rather have shrimp, crab or crawfish than any meat. and being just a little Cajun, I cook Gumbo, Bisque, Etouffee’, Jambalaya and of course Dirty Rice. I left out Shrimp Creole and Boudin Balls…….sorry I get carried away talking about Cajun Food…It is the best .

Hope you enjoyed our dinner…you may have already cooked shrimp like that, it was just so good last night, I had to share with you.

If you are not familiar with Cajun cookin’, just let me know and I will send you dozens of recipes.

Barbara I would not mind at all some recipes, like jambalaya, gumbo, dirty rice. I love seafood of all kinds especially shrimp and crab. When we go South there is a restaurant called Kenny B's which serves cajun, yum!
