THANKS BEVERLY….CHECK OUT THE LIST OF PINKIES AT HOW SWEET THE SOUND.
HAPPY PINK SATURDAY.
THE PINK (PURPLE) GOAT LADY!
I just visited a new blog {for me}, My Life in Bits and Pieces.
I would urge you to visit Perri’s blog, find the Adoption Story
and the post about Ryan and send a card to him and say a
prayer for this wonderful lady and her family.
Please read “ Our Adoption Story” posted on April 9, 2005.
I was greatly moved by this wonderful but sad story and think
you will be also. I am so thankful there are people like Perri
and Bill in this world to reach out and help children so in need.
A Great Thanksgiving Real Life Story!
I have shown you pictures of Mr. Tom and Ms. Hen before,
but they have really grown and , Mr. Tom is starting to strut
his stuff again.
[I am amazed that they have still have never left our yard, which is 3 acres, so they have room to roam everyday.]
They are never very far from each other. We are hoping Ms.
Hen will make a nest and lay eggs. What could be cuter than
little turkeys running around.
She would lay between 4 – 17 eggs at a time and it takes about
28 days for them to hatch.
Mr. Tom does not and I repeat does not like NOISE! When
lawn people come he is crazy, he also objects loudly by
gobbling repeatedly to the starting of the mule, the leaf blower,
Roy’s truck, anything that makes noise. They have excellent
hearing, but no external ears. I recently found out that some
wild turkeys in a field near an Army Jet Plane test Airport,
dropped dead from the shock of the jets breaking the sound
barrier.
He has very large spurs, but has never tried to spur the cats or
the dogs when he feels they are too close, he flaps his wings.
I have learned a lot just watching them and reading about
them on the internet.
The average life span is 3-4 years, but I think these turkeys
These are pictures of my Mr. Tom. His snood, wattle and
caruncles are bright red, they turn this way when he is upset or
courting…he is courting here. You can see his beard in this
picture. It is the hairy thing hanging off his chest.
Hope you enjoyed your lesson on turkeys, I am always happy to
see them even if I have to wash off the concrete nearly everyday.
Happy Thanksgiving from the Bar
H AND ALL THE CRITTERS
THAT LIVE HERE.
THE CRAZY GOAT LADY!
Thanks to Michael@ Designs by Gollum, our hostess for this day to share great recipes and menus.
Thanksgiving Dinner
1 Gift for my niece, Ceseley. Dinner is at her home.
1 Chocolate Dessert, for my Sister in law
1 pan of Mac and Cheese, for my niece
A drive to Frisco to Niece’s home. Roy is working, so I will drive up for the day.
I know some of you have already started cooking and hope you are not working too hard. I always felt cooking for Holidays was a labor of love, but sometimes it is nice just to take a few dishes and go to someone home.
I also offer you one more simple tablescape for Thanksgiving.
Since I will not be home for Thanksgiving, I really didn’t put all the extras on this one, just wanted you to see the Fitz and Floyd Turkey and the new table runner with arrangements on each end, I put together.
I also wanted to share a new tablecloth I bought on sale for 22.00, original price 99.99. I will get to use it next year.
There is one of these beautiful pumpkins on each corner.
It is a dark olive green and there are pumpkins all the edge. It is lined with gold on the underside.
Happy Friday!
Time once again to thank Susan and check out all the beautiful dishes, etc on this 65th Tablecape Thursday. So run on over to Between Naps on the Porch for the list of tablescapers.
Time has been my enemy lately and so I offer you a very simple but colorful tablescape this week.
The chargers came from Target purchased on our last vacation.
The dinner plate and salad plate came from Wal Mart about 7 years ago as did the glasses.
The leaf plates were just recently purchased and to be honest, I can’t remember where.
Oh Dear, they say the memory is the first thing to go.
The Give Thanks centerpiece was from T J Maxx , and the leaf charger under it, I made several years ago.
This tablescape was on the Kitchen table, which we were going to sell and replace with the more formal round table, but my sweet husband agreed to make the living room into a combination living and dining room, so we will not be selling this table and will be redoing and rearranging the living room. I am excited to see the finished product, although I will need later to purchase another China Cabinet.
Happy Tablescape Thursday.
Roy brought Dozer home last night with a nail on one foot that he caught in something and has almost pull off his paw. He is a very sensitive little fellow and of course, I can only look at it from a distance.
He is limping and he constantly licks it, so Dozer and I are off to the Vet this morning. Roy doesn’t get off until tomorrow and this need immediate attention.
Dozer is Roy’s dog, he goes to work with Roy and is his constant companion. BUT LOOK WHO GETS TO TAKE HIM TO VET, WHERE HE WILL EXPERIENCE PAIN……..ME!
I caught them resting…the big black one is Jenny, the little one is Savannah and of course the black and white is Dozer. Fritz is somewhere else, he is too big to get up here.
What a life!
I am also helping Sharon get stuff ready for the wedding reception she is doing this Saturday in Houston. Tomorrow we are headed down there for more supplies to finish up and for me to get a hair cut. Roy will be home starting tomorrow for a week and so I will be spending most of my time with my sweet husband.
Just trying to explain why I will not be visiting many of you.
See you Thursday at Tablescape Thursday!
I want to thank each one of you that came to register for one or more of my giveaways, posted about it and especially signed up as followers. I hope you will continue to come and visit.
I have not had the time last week to answer and visit all of you. It seems everything happens at one time and now Roy will be home on Wednesday and I try to spend my time with him.
