Thanks for All the Emails!

Just a quick note to say thanks for the many emails !

I am just trying to make it thru a very busy summer and stay alive.

We are both doing ok. Roy has lost 45 pounds and I have lost 25.

My email is messed up, so I can’t send anything out and my computer needs a tune up.

Hope to be back in the fall.

Things have really been wild around here and there are several changes…..

Sad Things…..Mr. Tom Turkey got on the road and was hit by a car.

Big Nose Kate ( Hen ) disappeared and today, Gypsy has not been home in two days.

Good things……Bunny the little kitten Roy brought home from the rig had Kittens and two are alive and growing. They are darling, they are still too tiny to be sure of their sex.

Miss Pearl is still here, but she wonders off everyday.

We went to Victoria for Matt’s Graduation from College, he graduated Cum Laude. We are very proud of him. He will be a great History teacher. We stayed at the Peaceful Pelican in Palacios and it was wonderful. The old house sits right on the bay and the view in the morning is awesome.

Roy is doing great with his weight loss, he has lost about 40 pounds in about nine weeks.

I had mine on the 27th of May and have already lost about 5 pounds. I am sure mine weight loss will be slower.

We have not finished fencing, there is a lot of clearing left to do to fence the last 2,000 feet, so it will take a while .

We have been working at the Lake House, getting it ready for the summer, hopefully Juan and I will finish up most of the work this weekend.

We have been praying for rain and today at 8:00 am, it started raining and it is still sprinkling at 7:00pm. I think we had at least 4 inches of rain, The pasture should be covered with grass in about a week. Thank you, Lord.

I am working on my furniture on the Patio, still painting it. I got new cushions and a few other things, hope to show it soon. I have done a couple of new tablescapes and will post those also.

I have painted some flower pots with chalkboard paint and different colors, I am going to give those as hostess gifts and I made some tags to give also.

My computer was on the blink for about three weeks and right now I can’t send email and just yesterday my printer stopped working…….always something. I will tend to those things in a day or two.

This week, I am just reading and sitting, I am very sore and can’t lift or do much housework or work outside. Taking it easy for a week or so.

I want to thank everyone for the comments and all the emails, I can’t answer. It is nice to have people out there thinking you.

Thanks so much….see you real soon.

Boy do I have a lot of visiting to do….it will take time.

Hello, My name is Barbara and this is my first day!

This was my very first post in November of 2008 and it was a real step for me. I have now posted 366 and have over 200 fantastic followers. Life is good and blogging friends are the best.

We finished one fence project yesterday 2000 feet of new fence and today we will begin another shorter one.

Yesterday we had 3 workers and Roy, this afternoon, we will have one worker and Roy.

Why one the weekends? This is when our young man can help out, he has another job during the week. We can’t afford to hire him full time…….wish we could.

Have a Blessed and Happy Sunday and pray for the people in Mississippi that suffered and died from the tornados that struck their area.

Couldn’t Sleep with the Storms!

We have just had our last storm for now. My dogs are scared of thunder, I could hear them crying, so I got up and thought I would try to catch up on visiting, but it has been very slow, because of tremendous rain, hail and lightning.

I know it has moved east and I hope everyone is safe as it passes over your area.

We are still very busy here at the Bar H……We are continuing our fencing today and tomorrow. Sooner or later, we will have it done so that the goats can’t go visiting around our neighbor or come in the yard and eat my rose bushes.

You know the old saying….Grass is greener on the other side, Well they sure think it is.

Before I show my copied craft, I want to give an update on Miss Pearl…….some of you may recall I was worried that she had broken her leg. She has been laying under the Wisteria bush for about 4 days and I have been taking her food and water. Today in all the rain, I saw her walking around with Mr.Tom and the other hens……she has a slight limp. I am so happy, she is my favorite.

I am always looking for ideas for the lake house and I saw some napkin rings with shells made by Beth and I made some of my own.

UPDATE ON OUR TURKEY SITUATION!

AS SOME OF YOU MAY HAVE REALIZED, I AM

TAKING A BREAK, NOT A PLANNED ONE. THIS

BREAK IS NEEDED BECAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH

HAPPENING ON THE BAR H.

THE THREE HENS ARE STILL HERE, BUT MISS

PEARL, my favorite, SEEMS TO HAVE BROKEN

HER “ankle” AND I AM NOT SURE WHAT IS GOING

TO HAPPEN WITH HER.

Today they are coming to replant out pasture. This winter we are the victims of Army Worms and they destroyed nearly all the grass in the pasture.

This means we have no grass for our goats and we are forced to turn them loose in parts of the property that are not properly fenced.

It also means we have a crew due today and tomorrow to disk the entire pasture and replant.

Tomorrow, I have crew another crew coming to fence a part of the back pasture to prevent the goats from getting into our neighbors property and prevent the predators from hopefully getting in.

The part that makes it hard on me……….Roy is at work and I am in charge of being sure everything is done correctly……..

YEP…you guessed it…….WHAT DOES A CITY GIRL

KNOW ABOUT PUTTING UP FENCE…..NOT MUCH,

BUT I HAVE 2 PAGES OF INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW

ROY WANTS IT DONE.

My neighbor, not next door, my next door neighbor is about 6+ acres away on one side, informed me yesterday that he had trapped three Bobcats and killed about 15+ coyotes in his back pasture, which joins ours where I am having to put up new fence. I will start carrying my gun back there with me, but I doubt the cowards would come out while I am back there.

Thank goodness I have Pilgrim and Mary to guard my goats.

Well, I also have been trying to work in my yard, keep the house clean and do some crafting. I am making gift tags to give as a thank you for the hostess when I play bridge or bunko.

Well, if you have stuck around long enough to read this entire PITY PARTY I am having….I will stop and let you move on.

Hopefully by Wednesday, when Roy comes home, things will have settled down and I can get back to visiting and maybe post a word or two.

On days like this, it is nice to have blogging friends to leave messages.

THERE’S A PARTY GOING ON!

We are celebrating at the Bar H and thanks to Beverly@How Sweet the Sound, we can share our happy event with all of you.

Hello, My name is Tom T. and I live at the Bar H with Roy and Barbara, 6 dogs, 6 cats, ducks and about 80 goats. Things have not gone to good for me lately. I have been moping around the yard, well how would you feel if you were me. No mate and I had looked everywhere.

Thursday afternon I saw Roy and Barbara pull up in the truck with a big cage and WOW!……..I couldn’t believe my Eyes!

There was a cage full of the most beautiful Ladies I have seen in a while. To be honest there were only three, but to these happy eyes it looked like hundreds.
I rushed to my closet and put on my best, well listen, I need to look nice for my visitors.

I rushed back to that big cage and introduced my self. Boy are they pretty ladies.

I was dancing around the yard, trying to show them what a handsome fellow I was. I walked over to the cage and Bang……..

It was love at first sight!!!

Being the gentleman that I am, I invited all three ladies to have lunch. One lady was so excited that she laid an egg. Boy that is real love……did you ever lay an egg for you favorite Guy? No, then stop laughing.
We are still getting to know each other, but I am looking forward to having a great family real soon.

I want to thank all of you for your concerns and kind remarks about my sad dilemma. It is nice to have such caring friends.
Life is good again!!!!!!
I ask Barbara if she would take some pictures of the new ladies, my camera is broken.

Here are the pictures I took for Mr.Tom’s of his new lady friends.

This is Miss Pearl, she is a young hen and she stays right with Mr. Tom.

Here is Miss Gypsy, when we opened the cage this morning, she took off and left and went down the road. Later she came back…I guess the grass wasn’t greener on the other side.

Last but not least is Big Nose Kate,I am not sure if you can see her beak, but it is very large and curved.

Mr. Tom has been courting since we unloaded the cage Thursday afternoon, he is so excited, he has even stopped to eat.
He has his wings full taking care and keeping up with three hens.

So for now, all is well at the Bar H. I think I forgot to mention that Roy brought home a young cat (wild as a March hare) several days ago and she is in the den in a large kennel while I try to tame her so she will hang around.
Live is never dull……now is getting ready to build some nesting boxes for the hens he wants to buy.
Life just gets more interesting for this City Girl married to a Country Boy………

I am well aware that I am cheating

but I am in real need of Turkeys……

yes 2 (two) turkey HENS. Ms Hen was

killed and Mr. Tom T is suffering

something terrible.

So I pray the above ladies and all my blogger friends will forgive me this time and help me find 2 turkey hens.

This was the only way I knew to reach so many people at one time. Of course it would only work if the hens were in Texas, but I thought some of you might appreciate my problem.

Here is a picture of the handsome fellow, it you want to show it to the hens.

These are pictures of Mr. T’s table, as you can see, he is a very refined turkey.

He is also very thrifty, what he does not eat for lunch, he cover with plastic wrap and saves for supper.

He also searches the ads for sales on bags of corn.

Mr. Tom T will be ever so grateful for any leads you

might have that will lead him to HENS!

Well Mr. T and I have racked our brain for something

vintage to satisfy the Colorado Lady and the only

thing or person we could find that was vintage was

ME! I am getting older by the minute trying to find

Mr. T a couple of mates.

Now you all know this is not me…….I have short hair, but what the heck !!!!! Ok, you can stop laughing and get out there and find some turkeys!

Drawing Heaven~ This is amazing!

This CNN clip is awesome and well worth the 3 minutes it takes to view it. The images of God painted by a 12 year old child. She started painting at age 4. Her Mother is an atheist so God was never discussed in their home. She gives God the credit for her talent as she has never had an art lesson. She was on Oprah last year.

Our Doctor visit for Roy was good, everything is go for him. We have to make another trip to College Station today, so I will be absent again.

Blue Monday and An Outdoor Wreath

Time to visit Sally again at Smiling Sally for a list of Blue beautiful, funny or maybe even ugly things. Next take a trip to Its so Very Cheri and Cottage Instincts and see all the wonderful creative things.

Roy’s surgery was great, but there has been a minor problem develop and so we are off to see the Doctor today.

Roy is very sore and having a hard time resting comfortably, which is normal, but men don’t take additional problems very well. I will say, he is trying hard to be a good patient.

Hopefully, the good Doctor can take care of our problem this morning and we will be back on the road to recovery.

I made this wreath to hang outside on the pump house door where I can see it from my kitchen and since all people come to my back door, they will see it also. I need to change the little purse to a small basket, so I can put some plants in it, but the for time being, it is colorful.

Tablescape Thursday

Today, once again, we journey over to Susan’s Between Naps on the Porch to gaze upon beautiful tablescapes created by our fellow bloggers.

Grapes are a great part of my kitchen, they are every where, on the border, wall clock, light switch plates and lots of other places. The grape, wine and Cheese plates came from TJ Maxx in a set of four, the other items on the table I already had.

Today my husband is having surgery, so I will not be visiting. Have a great day and weekend and I will hopefully be back on Monday.

White Wednesday and Outdoor Wednesday

I am joining Kathleen at Faded Charm for another White Wednesday, where you will find beautiful, old, new, funny, inexpensive and expensive White Things.

I am also joining Susan at Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday.

I realize they are very different, but it is goat time. My babies are like your children, they grow very fast and if I don’t show them, they will be grown and having their own babies.

The bird is by Fitz and Floyd, it is the first thing I have by them made of wood and metal.

The lanterns came from Goodwill for $3, $4, and $5 .

I am anxious to take them to the Lake House and do a tablescape with them……..when it is much warmer.

Now my babies….I love them so!

These are just three of the 13 last ones born. The run like heck from me, but these three were sound asleep.

Two of them are brother and sister, but I have to wait until they run to their mother to be sure which is which.

This is our old Billy, he will be sold shortly, not because he is old in age, but he can’t continue to mate his grandchildren.

This is the BARON, he is Roy’s pride and joy and he will be our main Billy now.

Can you see the paint goat in the background, she broke her hip…..at first I thought it was just sprained or bruised, but after several days, I realized it was more serious and we will have to put her down. This is the part that just breaks my heart and I feel sorry for Roy because he is the one to do it.

Yesterday, I found a young one with the same thing, I think I have A Big Billy problem….Roy and I will discuss it when he gets home today.

A word for you city slickers, which I was one before marrying Roy 7 years ago, living in the country and having animals can make you laugh and smile and then break your heart. We have 80 0r 81 goats. They will not line up for me to count.

Time again to spend a few hours with our gracious, hostess Sally, who needs our prayers right now. Be sure you “ mosey” on over to her blog, Smiling Sally and round up a few blue thingies.

Friday was our day at the Houston Stock Show and Rodeo and of course Toby Keith. It wasn’t one of my better days, the wind was blowing 90 miles an hour and unless you were inside a building, it was not pleasant.

Now there was my favorite thing and that is shopping and there was plenty of it.

I met the nicest lady from Texas who designs, makes and sell western wear.

CR RANCHWEAR owned by Rhea Scott Follett. She had some to the finest made shirts and jackets I have seen.

That is Ms Rhea seated at the desk. It is really hard to take good pictures in the hall because there are so many people.

This was here #1 seller at the show.

It is hard to tell from these picture but they are beautifully made shirts.

Her friend sells the boot candy, which is like a bracelet you wear on your boots. So stylish now are the rubber boot made like cowboy boots and decorated. Yes, ladies we must look good in the pasture or the barn cleaning out poop.

I also thought you might in enjoy seeing a few hats that were for sale, Of course, you can buy any color, material or price cowboy hat you want. Roy said these are the ugliest ones he had seen, and he should know, he has about 6-8 hats and is always looking for another.

Then I spotted one that was to die for and that tight old skin-flint wouldn’t buy it for me and he says he loves me.

IT WAS ONLY $10,000 DOLLARS…YEP YOU SAW IT RIGHT $10,000.

I guess I wasn’t worth it……..hehehe

Then I ran into an old friend from my days of owning 2 boutiques, I get to visit with her every year down there. She is from Colorado.

Barbara is a lovely lady and designs all the denim, and jewelry that she sells. Her clothes, jewelry and belts are well made and worth the price.

Yep, there were other booths besides clothes and jewelry.

These Chest were hand made and absolutely magnificent.

The bronzes were breathtaking.

My pictures of the rodeo and Toby Keith were disappointing, I , for the most part had the wrong lens.

I did talk Roy into riding the Bump Cars, but he is such a sissy, HE WOULDN’T RIDE ANY OF THESE SCARY RIDES. so we gave all our tickets to a little boy, whose family appeared to be less fortunate than Roy and I.

We sit right behind the chutes….they are called chute seats…go figure. Lots of perks come with these seats and the best one is you get to go down on the dirt when the performer is out there and sit in chairs on the dirt. We were much closer that my pictures show.

Thanks for being patient and looking at all my pictures, we had a great time.

Foodie Friday… Squash Bisque

Friday again and time to visit michael at designs by gollum.

Here you will find a list of all the Foodies for today.

Roy and I are both on strict diets and so I am looking for recipes that are easy to digest and low in calories.

Squash Bisque

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 medium onion, chopped

1 1/4 pounds yellow squash, thinly sliced

1 cup diced carrots, about 2

2 large Yukon potatoes, peeled and diced

4 cups fat free chicken broth or vegetable broth

1/4 teaspoon dried thyme leaves

dash of paprika

salt and pepper to taste

In a large pot, heat oil and sauté onion until tender, about 5 minutes. Add the squash and sauté, stirring, about10 minutes. Add carrots, potato and chicken broth. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer about 30 to 40 minutes or until veggies are tender. Add thyme,paprika, and salt and pepper to taste.

Makes 8 ( 1 cup) servings. You can substitute two ( 10 oz.) packages of frozen squash for fresh.

We tasted this soup in a nutrition class and it is great even if you are not dieting .

We are off to the Houston Rodeo and to see Toby Keith……I can’t wait, he is one of my favorites. We have chute seats and with those seats you get to go down on the arena floor and sit right in front of the stage, so I am taking my new camera……Toby , here I come.

I purchased this Teaposy at Beadboard Upcountry in Brenham, a while ago and have not used it lately.

I thought it would be interesting to show for those who are not familiar with them.

This is the teaposy, you place in the teapot and add boiling water, wait about 3-6 minutes.

I have been making Easter banners without my friend Sharon, she is in the hospital right now, please pray for her.

Since I wanted to make a few to send to people, I have tried to get an early start.

I cut these rabbits out of card stock and glitter then with white, made the letters out of card stock, using my new “Circut”…..my Roy bought me this as a surprise.

This one is for my daughter, she isn’t a big decorator, so I try to send a couple of little things she can put up fast and take down.

This one was hard to photograph for some real, but it is for the Purple Goat Lady

The horseshoe napkin holder..I welded and painted…it was my first time to weld alone. I have since made a horse shoe wreath, but I need to paint it.

The belt buckle is an authentic Texas Ranger Belt Buckle. The round item lying on the knife with Hilbrich showing was made by inmates in Texas.

The Indian carving was purchased at the Star Drugstore in Galveston. The owner’s Aunt does the carvings.

I have a brand new camera, a Canon Rebel EOS T1i the two lens. I just got it 2 days ago and these are my first pictures. I hope I will improve with time and study, but for now I am happy with my efforts.

You have seen the place mats, napkins, silverware and two of the crystal glasses before, the third one is a hock wine glass from Waterford. The beautiful dishes and ducks to match came from Home Goods, the pink Potpourri was purchased by my DH for this table as were the flower petals.

Mosaic Monday and Baby Goats

Time to run on over to Mary’s Little Red House and check out the list of mosaics for today.

This mosaic shows some of the Dec 2009 babies.

These are the February 18th babies except for the small light tan and white in the lower left hand corner..this little girl was born the 19th. and 2 more not shown were born the 20th.

Yesterday, I was there when the last 2 were born and they came so fast, the Nannie was having a hard time cleaning them up, so the last one still had the sack over his face and was breathing thru his mouth. I got to act as a mother and pull the sack off him. He is a big boy and because of this size, had trouble standing at first. I did what I could to get him up….they need to get up as soon as possible. The little girl born first, just got right up after a couple of tries and started eating.

I never realize what a great feeling it is to watch new life come into the world and then see them struggle to stand and eat.

A true miracle of God!

HEARTS AND FOLLOWERS…AND GOATS…..OHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I don’t really have a post today, I am so short on time, we had 4 baby goats yesterday. One of my nannies died and you remember the three little goats I raised last year, well the one we called Redbug, was expecting and I was trying to watch her. Well, I missed and she had a baby, but it must have died or either she didn’t know what to do with it.

I searched for hours yesterday, trying to find it….no luck, she is fine, but was too young to have a baby.

The other mothers are doing great and so are the babies. Pictures coming soon.

Hearts…I still have the falling hearts on my blog and I think I will leave them there, I love them.

As most of you know, I spend as much time as I can with Sharon, in fact I need to get dressed now and go get her, but I just happened to see my followers and wanted to say thanks and I will visit you all as soon as I can.

I remember thinking if I ever had 100, I would be the luckiest lady and now I am thinking if I ever reach 200, I will have a big blow out and a great, great giveaway.

JUST WANT TO SAY THANKS TO ALL FOR STICKING WITH ME THRU THIS DIFFICULT TIME FOR MY FRIEND.

Our Fabulous Weekend at Le Shiloh Chateau

We spent the weekend in Union Grove, Texas at the Le Shiloh Shabby Chateau owned by Lee and her DH.

This is just one of the lovely sights that greeted us as we opened the door and stepped into this gorgeous place. Please notice the H, Lee painted for and gave to us.

It smelled like heaven and there was soft music playing in the background.

There was a wine cooler with Asti, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered pretzels, kisses and a spa gift from my dearest friend, Sharon.

From Lee and DH, a wonderful cheese ball, crackers and all kinds of assorted goodies.

Needless to say we were overwhelmed.

This is the rest of the beautiful table awaiting our delicious dinner that was served at 6:30 by Kimberly, Lee and Kim’s DH. Of course, I forgot to take a picture of the dinner, we were hungry. Menu: lasagna bread sticks, salad, tea and cheesecake. It was wonderful.

We settled in for a warm ( 7+ inches of snow on the ground outside) and restful evening.

I could go on forever talking about all the special touches and how wonderful this Chateau is……..I think you got the picture now…we had a wonderful weekend in a gorgeous place. Roy said I have taken him to may B&B’s, resorts, etc., but this was by far the most unique place with so many personal touches and a feeling of complete relaxation.

For My Friend Sharon, Happy Valentine’s Day

As some of you already know, my dear friend Sharon is receiving chemo and radiation for throat cancer.

She has lost at least 35 pounds and her mouth and throat hurt so bad , she can hardly swallow. The inside of her mouth has started developing blisters. The very near alternative is a feeding tube.

Sharon’s husband of 35 years died suddenly on Oct 23, 2009.

I am asking for prayer for this beautiful lady who has suffered so much in the last 6 months.

MAKING EASTER AND SPRING BANNERS WITH SHARON/ BLUE MONDAY

Well, it has been a while, but I am happy to be back posting on Blue Monday with my friend Sally @smilingsally.blogspot.com.

Sharon and I are planning on making banners for Easter and Spring. She is here, but sick. I have mentioned several times that Sharon was diagnosed with cancer of the throat on Dec 28, and has begun her treatments of chemo and radiation.

I will show you all the stuff we have gathered to make our banners.

We bought these sheets at Michael’s for 5 for $1.00.

The 2 books of papers were on sale at Michael’s and JoAnn’s for 9.99 each.

The ribbon was on sale for 5 for $1.00.

The paper punches we had purchased a while ago and only bought a punch the makes 1/4 inch rectangle holes , we will run our ribbon thru.

Hopefully Sharon will start feeling better today and I will show our banners one day this week.

Silver Sunday/ Spiritual Sunday

In my reading for today, I read these words by Norman Vincent Peale…..

What lies beyond the threshold of today, you do not know, nor do I. We speculate, but we do not know. Inescapable, however, we must cross that threshold. And with the golden gift of hope, we can confidently, eagerly, optimistically.

This life is not easy! It is often fraught with pain and suffering. But hope gives you a lilting upthrust that takes you above the suffering. Forty-second Psalm states “….hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God”. What power in this text!

I pray today for Sharon who is beginning her journey thru chemo and radiation and who is already sick and unable to eat.

I pray for all who are suffering and in need of God’s healing and unending love.

What in the World has happened in Texas?

The weather in most of Texas is so cold, it is hard to believe.

I can’t remember the last time it was this cold ( I admit my memory is not real good), but it is 19 degrees and the wind chill is 9.

This is cold for Texas, at least in our part of Texas. Of course, I am worried about my goats and turkeys, but there is nothing I can do other than be sure they have food to keep up their body heat.

Tonight it will be colder, but no wind chill to drop the temp even lower. I know in the North, you have these temps more often, but I feel you are better prepared.

Of course we grieve for our Beloved Texas Longhorns and worry about Colt’s shoulder. What a sad thing to happen to this wonderful young man. We offer no excuses, we were out played, but do think we could have given Alabama a better game if Colt had been in the game. We do applaud Gilbert for his valiant try.

There are lots of great recipes at Designs by Gollum’s on Foodies Friday. I have spent an hour or so copying some of the ones I liked.

I am rambling…I know….just needed to post something today to help with the saddest in my heart for my adopted sister/friend, Sharon. Yesterday, we were told they would have to add chemo to her treatments of radiation.

Yesterday I go some earrings I ordered from Penniwig and they are absolutely beautiful. If you have not checked out her Esty Shop….do so. They are delicate and so dainty.

I have also booked 2 nights Lee’s Le Shiloh Shabby Chateau in Union Grove, Texas. If you have not seen this vacation rental, then you need to rush over to Inspired Comblogulations, listed on my Texas list and scroll down until you see the above Name and click on the picture. You are in for a sight, you will not believe. Eat your heart out, Roy and I have it booked for the Valentine Weekend. Lee and Rick have created a beautiful retreat and you can even have meals catered and delivered to the Chateau….check out the Chef.

Sharon and I are headed to Bryan/ College Station this morn for her to have a Pet Scan, then I guess after they have the results, we will have our treatment schedule. I also found a great recipe for a casserole on Gollum’s blog and I will pick up the ingredients to make it tonight for Roy, when he gets to come home for one night.

I have no tablescape today, I need some help. About 15 years ago , I bought some light tin cream colored chargers with scalloped edges and a design around the edge for my sister-in-law. Since I have started doing tablescapes, I have been looking everywhere for some like those.

If any one knows where I can purchase some like that, please let me know. You would think in is age of computers, you could find anything.

OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY/ BUT NOT PICTURES!

I haven’t been here for a while, but thanks to Susan, this fun day filled with beautiful pictures is still here. Visit her at Southern Daydreamer.blogspot.com for the list.

WHAT? how can you participate in Outdoor Wednesday with no pictures?

Well believe me, when you read my post, you will be thrilled that I didn’t show any pictures.

Outdoors at the Bar H right now consists of leaves that poor Roy keeps fighting because I complain that they get tracked in the house. BUT..BUTT, we have lots of those around here and they produce lots of POOP is also a big problem that my wonderful husband can’t fix.

With close to 60 goats and 2 large dogs in the pasture, it is hard to walk in some areas out there and not step in something.

Now we move to the yard, which is 3 acres, so you say, well that is plenty of room for 4 more dogs and 5 cats……not exactly. But the dogs do have a place way off behind the hedges and the cats do cover it up and confine their poop to the flower beds.

BUT, now we come to Mr. and Mrs. Turkey. They, my fellow bloggers, I hate to tell you don’t not have a special place nor do they cover it up.

In the summer, they roam around the 3 acres and stay away from the house for the most part, but since this cold,rainy winter has set in, they have decided that my covered patio or the cover on front of our house barn, (not used for animals) is the place to roost during the day and they can stay dry and out of the wind. Now we have a real problem. Out at the barn is not so bad, they stay on one side and it is not the side we use to go in and out of the barn, BUT my patio is a different story. We have tried everything to keep them off and Roy’s last suggestion was to put bull wire around the patio. Not really an option, since that is one way and the major way we get outside.

It is not a pretty sight, but if you wait until it hardens, you can just sweep it off into the yard and it turns to powder most of the time. (at least it does not stink).

SEE, I told you, you didn’t want pictures. , I know by now most of you are saying …Why in the heck did she write about something like that …..POOP. Well, all of you are talented, creative, good cooks, artist, writers, not me. I love animals and I am willing to endure things most people would not. I also thought I would add a little humor to your life (?) or at least make you happy you are not me!

LAUGHING is not happening much around here lately, with Sharon losing her husband and now having cancer and 2 of my other friends finding out their husband’s have cancer, we just haven’t had much to laugh about.

So, I decided to try and make you smile a little, I have been laughing while writing this trying to imagine what you are thinking as you read it.

In all the cold and nasty weather we have been having here in Texas, there is a bright note in my yard. Bluebirds and Blue Jays.

Mr. and Mrs. Bluebird are making a nest in my bluebird house. They are so beautiful and I enjoy watching them go back and forth carrying their materials to the house. Hopefully I will be able to see the little birds when they start coming out and learning to fly.

WELL, HERE WE ARE AGAIN, STARTING ANOTHER YEAR AND BEVERLY IS STILL HOSTING THIS FUN DAY!

SENDING YOU WISHES FOR A HAPPY NEW YEAR AND PRAYING IT WILL BE THE BEST EVER!

My projects for 2010 are:

1.Redo the master bath in our home. This is going to be a major job, I want to change the location of the toilet , take out the tub and make a large shower, redo the cabinets and add tile everywhere.

2. Redo all of my jewelry “stuff”. Put my beads in containers that are more user friendly and fix a craft place for all of my supplies. My friend Sharon and I will do this, she is great at organizing.

3. Down size the “STUFF” in the Frou Frou house.

4. Seriously lose weight.

My Main Project for the Next Several Months is to try and help my (SISTER) friend, Sharon thru her radiation treaments for her throat cancer. She was recently diagnosed and Wednesday the 30th we met with the Radiation Doctor and now have appointments with the oral surgeon, the chemo Dr. and then will begin 7 1/2 weeks of radiation.

She must travel about 75 miles one way each day and that alone is a task, but with help from family and friends, we will make it and make it standing on our heads.

We are two crazy ladies and with your prayers, we will be just fine and soon back on the road looking for thrift and junk shops.

SUNNY SUNDAY AND 17 BABIES

Roy and I went out to the pasture this afternoon the check on the goats, the babies and the feed situation and found babies everywhere.

Seventeen to be exact and they are all healthy and running and jumping.

I couldn’t get them all, but here are some of them.

New Babies/ Cold Weather/ Taking a Break

The Nannies always seem to wait until it is cold, raining,sleeting or snowing to start having babies.

It is cold and has been raining and we now have 12 babies.

We got three rolls of hay and there is feed in the bulk feeder, so that is all we can do. I worry when I see those little babies out in the cold following their mothers, but Roy says that is how it has always been and they will be fine. I would like to bring them all in the house and keep them warm….lol.

Roy is headed to Llano to go hunting today and Sharon and I are headed to College Station to a new doctor for her and her very painful and long lasting sore or ulcer way down in her throat. We must find out what is wrong and how to cure it. She is suffering, unable to eat or sleep, and losing weight.

I am way behind in everything, Christmas, balancing check books, straightening Frou Frou house, taking food to charity, stuff to Goodwill, wrapping packages and mailing Christmas cards. I don’t even have a tablescape for tomorrow!

SO WITH ALL THIS SAID, I AM TAKING A BREAK!

Pink Saturday/ Favorite Thing

LOOK WHAT WE FOUND IN THE PASTURE!

This Nannie had two, but the other one was under the feeder and I could not get a picture.

There is also one Big baby, but it was with its mother in the back of the shed.

Total 5…..they all seem to be doing well. I think three for sure are girls. Don’t have names yet until I am sure what they are.
