On our way home from St. Francisville, we stopped in the beautiful town of Natichotes on the Cane River. Natichotes is the oldest town in Louisiana, it was founded in 1714.
This is where Steel Magnolia was filmed. There are lots of beautiful old homes and shops. The main street is brick and they keep the town decorated to match the season.
We had a wonderful lunch and then set out to explore the shops. Roy was busy taking pictures of the decorations in downtown. The rain came and we finally had to give up and continue our trip home. This was my 6th visit to this lovely city and I never tire of exploring it.

Barbara, I loved seeing your pictures of Natchitoches. It's such a pretty town and was one of our favorite places to visit when we lived in Shreveport. Your pictures brought back some sweet memories.
ReplyDeleteTheir Christmas Flotilla on the river is truly a beautiful sight, and where else can you have dinner in a restaurant and "overhear" conversations of local residents talking about the parts they played in Steel Magnolias ... lol.
