I really appreciate the awards I have received, but the hardest thing  to do is pass it on.  Everyone on my list are wonderful bloggers and I would like to give an award to everyone.

Well, I started to make up some exciting stuff,  I travel around the world, I have maids, cooks, yardmen, pool boys, but most of you wouldn’t believe me and I don’t blame you.  So here are 7   boring truths about me.

1. I try to be the kind of person my Mother wanted me to be.   A Christian.

2. I love sweets.  Makes me fat.

3. Everyday I feed 6 dogs, 5 cats, 10 ducks, 2 turkeys, 1 Beta and occasionally  40+ goats.  No wonder I feel tired.

4. I wish I were crafty.  No talent here.

5. I have a great family, it is small in number, but so huge in love.  Thanks family.

6.I have some the greatest friends a person could ever want.

7. Last but not least, I love blogging and have met and made friends with some of the most caring people in blog land.   Thanks to all my fellow blogger.

Wow….What An Honor

 

 

I have received 2 awards, that will start your day off with a bang and make you very humble.

Why you ask am I waiting till Monday, I have a yard helper coming at 6:30 this morning and Sunday  is my day to decide to whom I will send these wonderful awards.

I am a slow thinker……..old age does that to you and believe it or not, my computer still does not work in the evening.  I am about ready to pull my hair out.  I guess this means another 6 hours or so on line with the repair people.

I can’t receive or send emails or  get on any web sites .  Strange as it sounds, it is true.

 

Pink Saturday/ Sea Glass Fish

It’s Saturday again, Wow the days are going by too fast.  Beverly has compiled her list of Pinkies for today, so be sure you go to How Sweet the Sound and check it out.  Thanks Beverly we appreciate all your hard work.

While on our vacation in Virginia, we visited a little shop , Something Different, and met the nicest lady.  She made a lot of the things in her shop.  We found this beautiful fish she made from sea glass.  I could just see it hanging in the window of my sun room at the lake.

 

I have lots of sea glass I collected while living on the beach and I found this story about the glass.  I make jewelry, picture frames, light switch covers and now I will make pictures.

SEA GLASS

 

    Before sea glass is born, it has a different life.

     Maybe it was a crystal goblet holding wine for a king

or maybe it was a sensuous vessel decanting wine during a

lovers’ tryst.

     Could it have been an amber bottle of beer out for a

fisherman’s quiet day on the water?

      Or a healing bottle of medicine restoring life to a wounded

soldier?

     In its young life glass is very vibrant and clear.  It has a

purpose, a mission.  As its purpose is fulfilled, it develops

into something vital, then becomes useless.

     When broken into shards, glass becomes a threat to man.

Many times it becomes lethal.

      Later discarded, some glass finds its way into the ocean

where it is tossed, weathered and smashed many many times

into the ocean floor.

     It takes on another life, down in the dark churning

waters.

     Once transparent, it now emerges as smooth, frosty

opaque gems.  Life is not so clear-cut now and the purpose

of its life is now in the eyes of the beholder.

      Many people do not relate to this broken trash and pass

it by.  But to some, a quiet walk on the beach to meditate or

pray will bring those gems back to life.

     They stand out among the broken shells and maybe

catch a ray of sunlight.

      Diamonds,  emeralds, rubies and sapphires, bringing

happiness and nostalgic memories to those who choose

to find them.

     Life is wonderful and beauty is everywhere.

    

COME WITH ME TO BREAUX BRIDGE, LOUISIANA FOR THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE!!!!!

Breaux Bridge is a city in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 7,281 at the 2000 census.  It is just off I10 east of Lafayette, La.

This community is called the "Crawfish Capital of the World", a designation obtained by former Speaker of the Louisiana House of Representatives Robert J. "Bob" Angelle.

It is also known for its unusual listing of nicknames in its telephone directory.

You cross the Bayou Teche  to enter into the old town,  where you will find the Famous Cafe des Amis Cajun Restaurant and some very cute and unique shops. There is also another famous restaurant there, Mulates Cajun Restaurant, which also has a large dance floor, but I can’t remember when they have a band and dancing.  Cajun people love to dance and have a good time.

 

 

 

On our way to St. Francisville, Roy and I stopped to have lunch at des Amis.  On Saturday morning starting about 7:00-8:00 they have Zydeco  music and dancing until lunch time.  The place was wild when we arrived with music and dancing and laughter and good times.

These are the sights that greeted us as we waited for a table to eat lunch.  I wish you could hear the music and laughter.

Zydeco music started with the rural black Creole, but now as you can see is joined by all.

After lunch, I had crawfish etoffee and Roy has barbecue shrimp, we took a walk thru the little town and shopped in the stores.

  

Here is a new one, where Roy found a treasure…..

Last but the best…Roy and his treasure.

The coke cooler is in great condition and has a tray inside which they say makes it more valuable.  Some of you experts will have to tell us about that.  Roy just likes old Coke things.

We found some more treasures and then continued our trip on this rainy Saturday to St. Francisville.

The placemats came from TJ Max as did the tri-colored flatware and the green glasses.  Roy bought the large metal tree there also.

The black chargers are from Wal Mart, along with the napkins and most of the decorations.

My thrifty contribution is the plates which are  Halloween 1998 by Debbie Mumm for Sakura from Goodwill for 2.99 for the  four plates.

“Just when I think I have this indoor picture taking thing down pat, I don’t do such a pretty good job”.

Both of the pieces below, are china I purchased at Mitchie Tavern in Virginia and are made by the same companies that made the blue pieces I showed on Blue Monday a week or so ago.
