Raining and Lost in Virginia

Well, here we are in Williamsburg and it has been raining and we have been lost for 2 days.

The weather has been terrible and the traffic unbelievable. Friday was a lost day except we had a wonderful late lunch in a little community called Rescue, Va at Captain Chuck a Mucks. The people at the museum sent us the middle of no where, but great place and excellent seafood.

Yesterday, we went to Monticello, home of Thomas Jefferson and even though it rained and rained, we just braved the weather and had a great time. On the way out we stopped at Michie's Tavern and toured the tavern and that was delightful, we did the Virginia reel and placed Shut the Box and a word game with dice. I got some beautiful dishes in the gift shop, can't wait to get home and show you. The connection where is so weak, I lose the signal occassionally.

Not sure what today holds, it is going to rain again.

Oh, yes....yesterday we bought a GPS to help get around the Williamsburg, Newport News, etc area. It is all like one large city and with the traffic, you better know where you are going.

Hopefully we will get to Washington via train one day after the rain stops which should be tomorrow.

We are also a little early for the changing of the leaves.

So Long from Rainy Va.

Posting Again! Aren't you Excited?

Here I am again, trying to post on the blog. I didn't have much luck last time, and they still have not fixed my computer and I can't post from Live Writer and you can't teach an OLD DOG new tricks.
We are off tomorrow for a much needed vacation in Virginia. Roy is a history buff and he is excited and I am excited for him and just happy to get away for a week.

Hopefully on our return, all my computer troubles will be over and I can resume by usual post and comments.

Hope you all have a wonderful week and will be here when I get back and still come to visit.
I will try to post some on vacationm but even live writer doesn't work on lap top....serious problem for me.

See you all soon, stay well and pray for us.

Never Forget……..9/11/01

We have such a good life that it is real easy for us to forget the tragedy that occurred on this day.  But with many of our freedoms  are being taken from us today, we should remember and stand up for what we believe.

This country belongs to each one of us, not the President or the Congress…..But the People.

Blue Monday/ Labor Day

Blue Monday

Thanks to a special lady for hosting this day.

Sally at Smiling Sally, give us the opportunity to showcase all the special days that fall on Monday and to show your blue thingies.

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

What is happening to our work ethic in this country…so many today want the government to provide everything for them.

Happy Labor Day!

My theory on housework is, if the item doesn’t multiply, smell, catch on fire, or block the refrigerator door, let it be. no one cares. Why should you?

I wish I could feel this way about the Frou Frou house, but it is to the point of not being able to walk inside without putting your life in danger.  So off to work I go and all those great things I couldn’t live without are on their way to Good Will………

I will return soon …I hope!

Tablescape Thursday/This is a Rerun!

Last week I was so excited to post this tablescape, but I forgot to sign up, so I am posting it again this week.

Again I am so happy Susan is hosting this day, because I am just beginning to play with all my dishes. Visit her at Between Naps on the Porch.

I am not sure where the place mats came from, the chargers are from Wal-Mart, the white dish from Laurie Anna’s and the polka dot salad plate is from TJ Max. The black and white cones are from Hobby Lobby and the black napkins were found at Kohl's. My silverware is Golden Aegean Weave and the Crystal is from Joske’s many years ago.

The green and black glitter balls are Christmas decorations, the little green tree came from Laurie Anna’s at the Nutcracker Market. Sharon gave me one white pitcher and I bought the other at Hospice Thrift Center

The atrium was purchased on a trip to Crocket, Texas and the Candle stick in the background, I made.

The black and white hat box came from TJ Max for 3.99.
