As a Native Texas…..

I was a teenager before I realized “fixinto “ was not a word, “coke” is not the universal word for all carbonated drinks, and not everyone knows what pickled okra is.

If you are a Texan. I’m sure you can relate to these as well.

You know all four seasons---almost summer, summer, still summer, and Christmas.

           “Ya’ll” is a word.

The Texas flag is the only flag that can be flown at equal heights to the U.S. flag.

In South Central Texas there is only one question….do you bleed orange or maroon?

You know what “snipe hunting” and “cow tipping” is.

Distance is measured by minutes not by miles.

Going to Walmart or Wally World is a good form of entertainment.

You don’t know how anyone can survive without a truck or all-terrain vehicle.

You know what leaves make the best toilet paper.

Cowboy boots are considered dress shoes.

You drive with one hand resting on the top of the steering wheel and raise two fingers to wave at every passing car.

Hope you enjoyed things that are Uniquely Texan.

Wow, What a Great Day!

I walked into Blue Bakers and there stood Cher in her Cowboy hat holding this sign.

welcome

I knew I had found a friend.  We had some soup and split a brownie and talked and talked.  We found we had many things in common.  Finally we decided we better go junkin.

 shopping

We went to  three and I made some purchases.  My prize was the sterling silver tea set in perfect condition for $20..Just what I needed, something else to clean and polish, but it looks so good.

I bought something else, but I will save it until I use it and show you the finished product.

After all the looking, shopping and buying, we went to Cher’s house….OMG, what a talented lady…It is cowboy up and it is beautiful and darling all rolled into one.  She has a workshop that is unbelievable with all kinds of equipment.   Believe me when I tell you she is talented.

About 3:30 we parted and I thought as I drove home, what a very nice day we had, 2 strangers at 11:15am and a friend at 4:00pm.

Cher has such a postive attitude about her newly found lump in her breast which is malignant.  Cher will, if anyone will, lick the cancer and live to be 100.

Cher, if you are reading this, I want you to know, I now count you as a friend and hope you feel the same.

Purple hugs,

Barbara

SPIRITUAL SUNDAY

Spiritual Sundays

THANKS TO MS CHARLOTTE AND GINGER FOR HOSTING THIS BLESSED DAY!

What an awesome and orderly GOD!!

God's accuracy may be observed in the hatching of eggs.
For example
-the eggs of the potato bug hatch in 7 days;
-those of the canary in 14 days;
-those of the barnyard hen in 21 days;
-The eggs of ducks and geese hatch in 28 days;
-those of the mallard in 35 days;
-The eggs of the parrot and the ostrich hatch in 42 days.
(Notice, they are all divisible by seven, the number of days in a week!)

The lives of each of you may be ordered by the Lord in a beautiful way for His glory, if you will only entrust Him with your life.  If you try to regulate your own life, it will only be a mess and a failure.  Only the One Who made the brain and the heart can successfully guide them to a profitable end.

God's wisdom is seen in the making of an elephant..  The four legs of this great beast all bend forward in the same direction.  No other quadruped is so made.  God planned that this animal would have a huge body, too large to live on two legs.  For this reason He gave it four fulcrums so that it can rise from the ground easily.
The horse rises from the ground on its two front legs first.  A cow rises from the ground with its two hind legs first.  How wise the Lord is in all His works of creation!

http://budgettermiteinc.com/WhatisOrangeOil.aspx

God's wisdom is revealed in His arrangement of sections and segments, as well as in the number of grains.
-Each watermelon has an even number of strips on the rind.
-Each orange has an even number of segments.
-Each ear of corn has an even number of rows.
-Each stalk of wheat has an even number of grains.
-Every bunch of bananas has on its lowest row an even number of bananas, and each row decreases by one, so that one row has an even number and the next row an odd number.
-

http://www.freewebs.com/lovelybeaches/seashore.htm

The waves of the sea roll in on shore twenty-six to the minute in all kinds of weather.
All grains are found in even numbers on the stalks, and the Lord specified thirty fold, sixty fold, and a hundredfold - all even numbers.
God has caused the flowers to blossom at certain specified times during the day, so that Linnaeus, the great botanist, once said that if he had a conservatory containing the right kind of soil, moisture and temperature, he   could tell the time of day or night by the flowers that were open and those that were closed!

Thus the Lord in His wonderful grace can arrange the life that is entrusted to His care in such a way that it will carry out His purposes and plans, and will be fragrant with His presence.
Only the God-planned safe life is successful.  Only the life given over to the care of the Lord is fulfilled.

     I HOPE YOU FIND THIS AS FASCINATING AS I DID.....WOW!!!!

May God Bless You In Ways You Never Even Dreamed Today

HAVE A BLESSED SUNDAY

A PENNY/Thankful Thursday

 A Penny

You always hear the usual stories of pennies on the sidewalk being good luck, gifts from angels, etc.  This is the first time I've ever heard this twist on the story.  Gives you something to think about.

Several years ago, a friend of mine and her husband were invited to spend the weekend at the home of her husband's employer.

My friend, Arlene, was nervous about the weekend.  The boss was very wealthy, with a fine home on the waterway, and cars costing more than her house.

The first day and evening went well, and Arlene was delighted to have this rare glimpse into how the very wealthy live.  Her husband's employer was quite generous as a host, and took them to the finest restaurants.  Arlene knew she would never have the opportunity to indulge in this kind of extravagance again, so was enjoying herself immensely.

As the three of them were about to enter an exclusive restaurant one evening, the boss was walking slightly ahead of Arlene and her husband.
He stopped suddenly, looking down on the pavement for a long, silent moment.
Arlene wondered if she was supposed to pass him.  There was nothing on the ground except a single darkened penny that someone had dropped, and a few cigarette butts.   Still silent, the man reached down and picked up the penny.
He held it up and smiled, then put it in his pocket as if he had found a great treasure.

How absurd!  What need did this man have for a single penny?  Why would he even take the time to stop and pick it up?

Throughout dinner, the entire scene nagged at her  Finally, she could stand it no longer.  She casually mentioned that her daughter once had a coin collection, and asked if the penny he had found had been of some value.

A smile crept across the man's face as he reached into his pocket for the penny and held it out for her to see. She had seen many pennies before! What was the point of this?
"Look at it," he said.  "Read what it says."

She read the words, " United States of America ..."

"No, not that.  Read further."

"One cent?"

"No, keep reading."

"In God we Trust?"

"Yes!"

"And?. . .."

"And if I trust in God, the name of God is holy, even on a coin.  Whenever I find a coin, I see that inscription.  It is written on every single   United States  coin, but we never seem to notice it! God drops a message right in front of me telling me to trust Him.  Who am I to pass it by?  When I see a coin, I pray.  I stop to see if my trust IS in God at that moment.  I pick the coin up as a response to God; that I do trust in Him.  For a short time, at least, I cherish it as if it were gold.  I think it is God's way of starting a conversation with me.  Lucky for me, God is patient and pennies are plentiful!"
When I was out shopping today, I found a penny on the sidewalk.  I stopped and picked it up, and realized that I had been worrying and fretting in my mind about things I cannot change.  I read the words, "In God We Trust," and had to laugh.  "Yes, God, I get the message!"

It seems that I have been finding an inordinate number of pennies in the last few months, but then, pennies are plentiful!  And, God is patient.

Have a great Thursday!

It has been a stressful summer so far, with so little rain for plants, but especially for grass in the pasture.

I know you get tired of Mr. Turkey pictures, but it is so amazing that a wild turkey would so easily become friendly.
