UPDATE ON OUR TURKEY SITUATION!

AS SOME OF YOU MAY HAVE REALIZED, I AM

TAKING  A BREAK, NOT A PLANNED ONE.  THIS

BREAK IS NEEDED BECAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH

HAPPENING ON THE BAR H.

THE THREE HENS ARE STILL HERE, BUT MISS

PEARL, my favorite, SEEMS TO HAVE BROKEN

HER “ankle” AND I AM NOT SURE WHAT IS GOING

TO HAPPEN WITH HER.

Today they are coming to replant out pasture.  This winter we are the victims of Army Worms and they destroyed nearly all the grass in the pasture.

This means we have no grass for our goats and  we are forced to turn them loose in parts of the property that are not properly fenced.

It also means we have a crew due today and tomorrow  to disk the entire pasture and replant.

Tomorrow, I have crew another crew coming to fence a part of the back pasture to prevent the goats from getting into our neighbors property and prevent the predators from hopefully getting in.

The part that makes it hard on me……….Roy is at work and I am in charge of being sure everything is done correctly……..

YEP…you guessed it…….WHAT DOES A CITY GIRL

KNOW ABOUT PUTTING UP FENCE…..NOT MUCH,

BUT I HAVE 2 PAGES OF INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW

ROY WANTS IT DONE.

My neighbor, not next door, my next door neighbor is about  6+ acres away on one side, informed me yesterday that he had trapped three Bobcats and killed about 15+ coyotes in his back pasture, which joins ours where I am having to put up new fence.  I will start carrying my gun back there with me, but I doubt the cowards would come out while I am back there.

Thank goodness I have Pilgrim and Mary to guard my goats.

Well, I also have been trying to work in my yard, keep the house clean and do some crafting.  I am making gift tags to give as a thank you for the hostess when I play bridge or bunko.

Well, if you have stuck around long enough to read this entire  PITY PARTY I am having….I will stop and let you move on.

Hopefully by Wednesday, when Roy comes home, things will have settled down and I can get back to visiting and maybe post a word or two.

On days like this, it is nice to have blogging friends to leave messages.

Wow! I thought my schedule was rough. I don't think people realize just how much work goes into running a farm or ranch and all the millions of details that have to be attended to. Good luck, and I hope your guards keep the bobcats and coyotes at bay. Kathy

I think you are doing a fine job even if you are a city girl. I also think you are a wise girl for carrying your gun to the remote areas of your land. You never know what sort of critter you may come face to face with.

YOu may be a city girl but you have a farm girl heart and you will be amazed at what a farm girl can do!

Barbara, you are living the life there! I hope those army worms don't come back. They do such damage.

You're a girl after my own heart. A girl who carries her own gun can certainly handle supervising a fence installation! It will be perfect, I'm sure!

Lots of prayers for you. Us city girls need to stick together. LOL

I learned to use a gun before moving to Texas. So I will be prepared when we do move out into the country.

Have a nice weekend, anyways.

Such is the life of a country girl. I'm sure you do just fine for being a city girl...lol..I hope the cowards stay away at night too. And your pasture grows fast. We have spotted several coyotes in our area, even though we have been told they don't live in MS. Our neighbor knows better, he has lost several young calves to these cowards.
Hopefully soon it will slow down.
Thinking about you and saying a prayer for your speedy slowing down.

Oh no, that's scary to have to be the Big Boss when you're unsure of the job! What a lot of confusion going on, and poor Pearl in there with the broken ankle...

Just hang in there...

Oh Barbara, it sounds like you have your hands full, but you certainly sound like a woman in charge, that can handle the situation.
Thinking of you, and hoping things are better.
