Thanks Susan@A Southern Daydreamer.blogspot. com for her  hosting of this day to spend outdoors with nature.  You will find lots of nature lovers at her website.

This drive through the Shenandoah Valley, called  the Skyline Drive, traverses the park from north to south, is over 100 miles long and is one of the most scenic drives in the east. Fall is the best season. Driving along the drive, you can see an endless array of forested peaks, as well as deep hollows and gulches. You can't see any waterfalls from the road itself, but quite a few are just a short walk away.

Scenery pictures along the drive.

We stopped along the way and a fellow traveler, who lived in the area,  warned us about bears.  He said they had more bears this year than ever before.

We did not see any bears, but we did see about 40 + deer.

No, this is not a photo error…the white you see on this deer was in fact, white.

A few of the deer we saw.

We drove nearly the entire 100 +miles, it was absolutely beautiful.

Hope you enjoyed the ride.

Beautiful tour of one of the prettiest drives I've ever seen. It would have been fun to see a bear (from your car!), but the deer were really plentiful. Don't think I've ever seen a "piebald" deer before. Kathy
